Arrays at the Expression Analysis Core

The Expression Analysis Core at the UC Davis Genome Center has the ability to hybridize, scan, analyze, and strip CombiMatrix arrays.  The RNA labeling protocol we utilize for Illumina arrays also provides target suitable for CombiMatrix arrays, so we offer that service as well.  Prices for these services are based on reagent and labor costs, please inquire for latest rates.  Researchers wishing to utilize our services would order the CombiMatrix arrays of choice and provide them to the facility for downstream manipulations.

The feature density of CombiMatrix catalog arrays allows targeting of smaller genomes, particular pathways and gene families from model organisms, and micro RNAs from a number of organisms. These CombiMatrix arrays are continually updated as new gene findings and information becomes public. Check out the current catalog array list. A distinct advantage to CombiMatrix is the ability to order custom arrays, currently available in two configurations. One is a single 12,000 feature array, hybridized with a single labeled target pool at a time, and the other is a 4 x 2K multi-array comprised of 4 sectors of 2,240 features that can be independently hybridized with 4 different targets. There is no minimum order for custom arrays; CombiMatrix can do the design or customers can submit their own design. Design fees are waived for orders of 10 or more arrays. Note that array prices are listed for 35-mers or less, but longer oligo lengths are possible for increased fees. CombiMatrix has also validated their arrays for stripping and re-use up to 4 times, with the use of the CombiMatrix CustomArray™ Stripping Kit. Re-usable microarrays can clearly result in substantial cost savings for researchers.

To design a custom array, researchers will need to work with CombiMatrix personnel to establish a user account and find out the different options available.  This can be initiated through their web site.
