Polymerase Chain Reaction
The DNA Technologies Core offers a polymerase chain reaction set up and analysis service. Standard pricing would involve the user providing quantified DNA templates (plasmid, genomic DNA preps, or other source material) and amplifying primers. Input DNA should be diluted to the appropriate starting concentration, and normalized such that the same volume could be used in all reactions. Additional dilutions or volume normalizations can be carried out by facility personnel but will increase costs. Optimization will not be carried out: it is incumbent upon the user to provide PCR conditions known to amplify a single band (if that's the desired end result). PCR products will be analyzed by gel electrophoresis, and documentation provided. PCR can be carried out in conjunction with other facility procedures such as the Luminex genotyping assay. Verification of multiplexed PCR efficacy will be assessed on a case by case basis and no guarantees on equimolar amplification are made. Price includes setting up standard reactions containing commercial Taq (from a variety of possible sources depending on market price), nucleotides, buffer and customer desired additives (eg, betaine or DMSO).
