BeadXpress Reader System

The BeadXpress system from Illumina offers a cost effective platform for assaying anywhere from 1 to 384 SNPs in essentially any number of individuals.  The BeadXpress platform utilizes the Golden Gate SNP genotyping assay that we currently run on the Bead Array Scanner (for more information on Golden Gate, see our web page).  This is a robust assay that has generated a lot of great data in our facility, and we're confident this platform will continue that trend.  The main advantages of the BeadXpress are that the costs/SNP are lower than on the Bead Array Reader, particularly at the 96 SNP/sample level and below, and that variable numbers of samples can be more easily assayed (as opposed to the Bead Array reader, in which everything occurs in 96 well plate format).  We have this instrument in house and are currently lining up projects, so if you're intrigued about this technology please contact us for more information.   Much more information will be available soon, but in the meantime you can find out more on the Illumina web site describing this platform.
